Wonderful British summer events, be it large or small, often seem to be tainted by wet weather. Wimbledon, Edinburgh, the family picnic, a weekend at the seaside. If you want to get through those unexpected summer showers and still look great, follow our top tips below and don’t let rain stop play!

Best bets for the wet:
Lightweight Parka
Perfect for keeping you dry when the skies open and easy to roll-up and pack away when the sun comes out again.

Patent oversized bag
Stylish but practical. Rain will roll off your patent bag like water off a duck’s back keeping all the contents perfectly dry. With a bag this size, you can fit in all the essentials, and your parka to boot!

Floral laminated bags Think Orla Kiely. Colourful, laminated shoulderbags that are pretty and practical. Everything stays dry I inside and the outside can easily be wiped clean.

Cork wedges
OK, so the event you’re at is too smart for wellies; you’d better opt for cork wedges instead. Your feet will be elevated a few inches from the puddles and cork is near-impermeable, which is why we  use it for wine bottles!

Stay straight or get curly
A downpour or even fine drizzle can create havoc with your hairstyle. If you can bear to hide your crowning glory under a hat, now is the time!

The hat can be a neglected accessory, frequently being assigned only to special occasions. However, the truly stylish among us will enjoy topping off an outfit with a smart, quirky or fashionable hat. The high street has an array of styles for summer; cowboy, bakerboy and floppies are the big trends this season.

So don’t let the rain put you off having fun, keep smiling, it’s only water!
