This month, I'm back in Thame talking to my friend and super-talented architect, Lynn Palmer.

Lynn set up her own business (Lynn Palmer Architects) five years ago, specialising in designing and remodelling houses. She believes there is nothing more satisfying than being welcomed into someone’s home. One of the key elements to her success is getting to know clients and their families personally, to understand what is important to them and how they live.

So how does an architect decide what to wear? "As well as spending time with clients, I spend a large proportion of time on building sites. What I wear when I get up in the morning reflects the tasks that I anticipate undertaking that day. Turning up on site in a skirt and heels is not only unsafe, it is not a way for builders to take you seriously. My typical attire is smart jeans, shirt and jumper, which is then dressed up or down with a scarf. My whole career has been dominated by a male environment."

Here's more about Lynn's wardrobe staples, statements and a couple of her style secrets!
Which colour do you love to wear?
I seem to have a staple wardrobe of ‘grey’, I then brighten it up with a coloured scarf.
Tell me about your favourite jeans
As I wear jeans almost every day, I have a few pairs. For the past five years every pair of jeans I bought came from Diesel. Although being 5’2” it has become harder to find Diesels that fit, as I need a pair shorter than a 32” leg. I have recently bought a pair of Jack Wills Skinny jeans, these are now my new fave.
What's your favourite piece of clothing in your wardrobe right now?
Scarfs. I love scarfs, I have dozens – every colour and pattern.

Which accessory can you not live without?
Definitely my phone. For personal & business use. I’m a fulltime working mum with two young children. The phone allows me to juggle whatever challenge is thrown.

Tell me about the most amazing pair of shoes you own
I have a pair of patent, purple boots which I bought on a whim a few years ago. I love them. They can be worn with a little black dress or jeans.

Where is your favourite city?
Barcelona. I first visited when I was an architecture student, over 20 years ago. I have been back 4 times since, each time to stand on the street opposite the Sagrada Familia, in awe. It has taken over 100 years to build, each time it is that bit closer to being completed.

Which track gets you on the dancefloor?
The Killers - Mr Brightside.

TV or radio?
Radio, we have it on all day in the office.

Kindle or paperback?
Although I can’t live without my ipad, it can’t replace a book for relaxing.
